Bioinformatics: A challenging career & offered courses

After 10+2 exams, the biggest question is what to do next? If you are a science lover and want to do something different in this field, then you can opt for Bioinformatics. Bioinformatics is a subject combination of Statistics and Computer sciences, applying on molecular biology. It was introduced in 1980s’. As we know DNA sequencing has been the biggest project of recent years in Bio-sciences. In India, as the IT industry is raising, there are many opportunities of jobs in this career. Our Drugs and Research companies are hunting for experts in this area. A graduate with good skills in computer science and software engineering along some biological aspects can be a good Bioinformatician.

IPOs and KPOs are showing its market acceptance. This industry is very hot, very dynamic, and very exciting, expecting thousands of jobs in coming years. It has grown as a multidisciplinary area; from cellular biology to biotechnology and cloning, it has covered all the branches of life-sciences. It is becoming more computationally intense as presenting all of the genomes in electronic databases. It is spreading its web, influencing many industries and welcomes the newcomers of Science and Software fields to explore the fun and infinity of genomic world.

Nowadays many universities in India are providing diploma, graduate and post-graduate courses in Bioinformatics. These are on regular basis as well as through correspondence. Generation of Random amino acid protein sequences using Python/Bio-python

This program is about how to generate protein sequences (random sequences of 100amino acid) and these sequences should be stored in a database type file. The sequence analysis gave the bioscience researches a new direction. This project works for generating new sequences of proteins. These sequences might already exist in nature and having similarity with any organism. Through this software new random sequences may be generated and saved to a file on user’s machine. Saving to file helps to compare different sequences as well as the complete information may be placed at the same place.
